Field Notes

Description:

Large uniformly dark beetle-like insect. Back seemed smooth, could not see the line down the middle (wing-divider). Initially I thought this was a cockroach of some kind.

Habitat:

Roadside, just outside my house.

Notes:

It seeemed pretty much on its last legs; alive but barely.
