Tiger Wandering Spider
Cupiennius salei
16.3852, -91.2847
Field Notes
Description:
Probably a female due to its size (3cm body length). It's missing the pale markings on the abdomen from the other spotting, but I think it's the same species. Also grey/brown in colour with thin dark lines on the abdomen and longitudinal stripes on the cephalothorax; dark bands on first leg segment. Like all members of the Ctenidae family, a groove runs down the length of the carapace.
Habitat:
Found after dark in rainforest around Laguna Miramar in Chiapas, Mexico.
Notes:
Wandering Spiders are often called Banana Spiders.
