Turtur abyssinicus
15.6112, 32.5092
Field Notes
Description:
Black-billed wood dove is a small dove, around 20 cm in length. It sports pale-grey head with a black bill. The rest of the body is pale-grey - pinkish - greyish.
Habitat:
Common resident bird along the Sahel belt. Looks for drier savannas and woodlands, here observed on island of Tuti - small rural island in the middle of Khartoum, right where Blue and White Nile meet.
Notes:
For my 1000th spotting I've chosen another bird from my Sudan bird archives. In spite of being rather common bird in Sahel belt, I saw this dove only once, in this fleeting moment. This is also its first occurence on Project NOAH.
