Description:
This hummingbird is either a female or immature male. It has iridescent green feathers on its' back and buff underparts. It has a long black bill and black eyes.
Habitat:
This hummingbird was spotted drinking from a feeder.
Habitat: Widespread this hummer can be found in deserts, forests, mountainous areas, and lowlands.
Notes:
I love watching the behaviors of these hummers. Fun Facts: 1. Resting heart beat averages 480 beats per minute. 2. Eggs are about the size of a coffee bean. 3. The oldest Black-chinned hummingbird was a bit over 11 years old at the time data was collected. 4. They take in nectar through capillaries and then squeeze the nectar once the tongue is retracted.
