Description:

Potter wasp

Notes:

Potter wasp, these are very ancient and human might be learned from this to make mud pots too.
It took exactly 1 hr 2 minits for this wasp to made this pot since i have recorded all the shots not only this pot but till they lay eggs / putting larvae inside the pot for new born wasp / seal the pot etc... very interesting. interested people may try the link and see more images and discussions about this...

Dear Catgrin, wow thanks for the PDF attachments and the appreciations.
Hello! Congratulations on your picture being selected! I didn't know there was any confusion about the naming identification. I knew your lovely picture was clearly identified as a potter wasp. To help clear the confusion, I hunted down this pdf which discusses specifically the potter wasps of India. You may want to use it as a resource. I believe your picture may be of a "Delta pyriforme pyriforme" ("Delta" being the genus), and that your wasp belongs to the subfamily Eumeninae (but not the genus Eumenes). http://www.threatenedtaxa.org/ZooPrintJournal/2010/November/o246826xi101313-1322.pdf Here's the wikipage on the subfamily Eumeninae. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potter_wasp Again, congratulations, and wonderful picture!
@ Yasser and Juan, in wikipedia , Mischocyttarus is saying that is paper wasp !
@Juan, after googling Mischocyttarus, I think you may be right!

Great details in this photo, what an amazing thing this wasp can do! Thanks for sharing :)
I think that is not an Ancistrocerus, it might be a Mischocyttarus.
