Description:

Saw all kinds of tiny ground-cover plants in the cool, shaded area between a parking lot and the edge of the woods. These fine, green, unleaved stalks covered a 3-foot area, at least. Maybe a kind of moss?

Yes, I see where you're going with that observation, interesting ... this is a much smaller, wispier plant. And there doesn't seem to be a well-defined central stem. But keep thinking. Good things happen when you think!

I thought the leaves were similar to leaves Portulaca grandiflora.

I don't think it's a succulent, Sckel. As I remarked to another spotting friend the other day, I'm really interested in all these small-small ground cover plants ... but they are the very devil to ID. I just keep plugging away, we'll get it eventually!

it is succulent? I think I've eaten it, but I cannot remember the name. I think it might not be a moss, mosses are formed by tiny leaves. agree?
