Field Notes

Description:

Also known as the short-billed honeyeater, grows to 13cm, males and females similar, olive-green to greyish above, tail and wings slightly darker, grey-buff crescent band from eye to back of head, head brown/grey (darker in some regions), off-white under body and chin with wash of grey/yellow varying in individuals, beak black/dark brown. Whole body can appear washed with ash colour. Resembles immature birds of some other honeyeater species.

Habitat:

Found in forest and heath country, also mallee throughout eastern Australia and southern regions. Follows seasonal flowering.
