Description:
It is a medium sized butterfly that was laying eggs on passion vine.The butterflies come every year to the same passion vine laying round tall yellow eggs that are layed on the dead vine stems.The butterfly has orange with black markings on the yop of the wings and metallic silver, orange and black on the underside.This species is very similar to other fritillary butterflies with that distinct silver spots.Love to see them every year and hope the eggs don't get eaten by parasitic or paper wasps.
Habitat:
Semi urban areas that have lassion vines around.They also like gardens that have zinnia and lantana.
Notes:
This specimen was a female laying eggs.
