Description:

Hydnellum peckii, the bleeding tooth fungus, is a white mushroom. The bleeding tooth fungus turns brown as it ages, and exudes a red liquid that looks like blood.

Habitat:

This bleeding tooth fungus is growing in grass near a school.

Notes:

The bleeding tooth fungus has a symbiotic relationship with trees. The fungus provides the tree with water and nutrients, and the tree gives back sugars. Bleeding tooth fungus is not edible, due to it's bitter taste, but it is also not poisonous.
