Description:
The lycosidae family get their name from the Greek word Lykos which means wolf. and like their name these are free living ground vagabonds that lie in wait to ambush and then run down their prey.
This larger one was found in leaf sweepings in our garage and here eye pattern gives her away immediately. two large eyes followed by a row of 4 smaller eyes below.
This spider despite its dangerous looks is harmless and despite a bite has no toxin.
Habitat:
Free roaming on the ground on a dynamic scape of stones , leaf litter and sand.
