Field Notes

Description:

Cap about 5cm across, growing under birch, hawthorn and another tree I don't know. The mushrooms had no distinctive smell or taste and gave a rusty brown to darker brown spore print. All the photos shown here have been brightened a little and contrast increased except the last photo. Could be Cortinarius mucifluoides except it wasn't at all slimy. Cortinarius ochroleucus is similar and without the slime, the darker colour of the cap in second photo might suggest a different species. Cortinarius anomalus is common and generally fits

Notes:

hc13, I have a sample
