Description:

Black and white striped caterpillar with long white hairs, yellow feet and rust colored head and tail. Maybe 1/2 long

Habitat:

Water oak tree, west central Ga.

I was not able to detect a yellow ring, but I wasn't sure of the age of the caterpillar. I'll leave it at sp for now. Thank you!

Either Datana ministra, or Datana contracta. The difference is that ministra has a yellow "neck" behind it's head while contracta does not have that feature.
