Field Notes

Description:

Red bracket fungus with a rough upper surface - polyporus on the underside (no photos)

Habitat:

Maleleuca tree ( Ti-tree)

Notes:

It was unusual to see this red bracket fungus growing on a broken trunk of a Maleleuca growing on a beach by the bay. Pic #3 shows that the tree is still very much alive. The red fungus seemed to be "pouring" out of the wood above.
