Field Notes

Description:

This is the first time I spotted one of these in my garden. We usually see blue-tailed skinks, but he was quite a great deal bigger and had this amazing crimson color on his head. It looked like his tail had been damaged and is regrowing.

Notes:

Saw another one of these recently (March 14, 2012) curled up on a bald cypress stump amidst some poison ivy, sunning himself at a forest trail.
