Thanks CostaNut. There are many species of Coreopsis, I wouldn't rule it out yet, some do have foliage like that.

They do look like Cosmo, however, the leaves of the plant are not pinnate. I am not sure that they are Aster's either.

I have these flowers in my yard every summer, it looks like a Cosmo flower.
