Field Notes

Description:

A small tin of "bird seed" was on the deck for the birds and squirrels (corn, peanuts, sunflower seeds, etc.). For the past couple of evenings a mom raccoon and her three babies (2/3 the size of mom, so not so small) came up on the deck to sift through the feed. This day, mom raccoon (we believe) decided to come up on her own before dark. It was probably around four in the afternoon. She carefully picked out the shelled peanuts and once she didn't find any more, she left to go back to the woods.

Habitat:

Suburban yard.
