Field Notes
Description:
A medium to large heron that has bluish-grey upperparts and a white belly. There is a white line that runs along the neck. This one was amazing to watch as it coiled its neck, lowered its head, and with a quick stab to catch this fish with its long bill (pic 3).
Habitat:
Spotted foraging at the South Padre Island Birding And Nature Center.
