Field Notes

Description:

The "Tropical Kingbird" (Tyrannus melancholicus) respond aggressively to dominicensis Tyrannus, although ignore the Tyrannus tyrannus. They are solitary. Pursue and fold down to large predatory birds. Outside the breeding season they gather in large communal groups with "earwigs" (Tyrannus forficatus, T. savana). They do not defend feeding territories

Habitat:

They live in savannas, grasslands, thickets, banks of large rivers, agricultural areas, suburban and urban areas and forest edges.
