Field Notes

Description:

Looks a lot like the Monarch butterfly...being tawny orange, black and white. The hindwing has three small black spots almost at the centre.

Habitat:

On the weeds (Tridax procumbens mostly) growing on a spot of wasteland behind my office. This place has become a haven for butterflies...I am afraid this habitat will disappear once the Cleanliness Committee finds out about it!

Notes:

Called Tamot in Bangla...maybe from the word Tama for Copper.

Thanks, Adarsha B S. It was a mild day and the walk around office during lunch was quite fruitful.:)
