Field Notes

Description:

I believe this is a viceroy butterfly, but since I identified it myself feel free to correct me! These were beautiful, fluttering around effortlessly. One even landed on me! They were really common throughout the whole exhibit and I loved watching their grace as they soared from flower to flower.

Habitat:

Found in the Florida Museum of Natural History; in the wild they'll typically inhabit all North America, and southwards to Central Mexico.

Species ID Suggestions

Monarch

Danaus plexippus

My apologies but you do in fact have a Monarch in the shot, still a great shot though! The other one is a Great Eggfly, Hypolimnas bolina, by the way
