Field Notes

Description:

I used to know the name of this, but have forgotten. It has remarkable white flowers that are arranged in a fringe shape about 4 or 5 inches wide. The leaves are small and oval shaped with a soft point at the tip and where it meets the stem. The plant was very large.

Habitat:

Seems to like shade.

Notes:

I don't think this is a florida native plant, but it is quite pretty.

Species ID Suggestions

White Powder Puff Flower

Calliandra haematocephala

I should have added 'alba' to the end of the ID. It's the white form, there are also bright magenta pink forms too.
The tree version gets rather large: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calliandra
