Field Notes

Description:

Hundreds, if not thousands of tiny, off white mushrooms that darken to a grey brown as they mature. The majority stand an inch to 1.5" tall. Mature caps are .5" across. Gills of mature cap are same color as top. Straight stem with no ring.

Habitat:

They are growing all around the base of a china berry stump in shade. Limestone based soil with cover of leaf litter. Very moist from recent rains.
