Field Notes
Description:
A pale brown moth with a wingspan of about 25mm at rest. Forewings are held in a rectangular shape with a dark line running across both and aligned to look like a single line. The fore wings each also have a couple of small dark spots. The long antennae sweep back and down under the wings (pic #1). Labial palpi are pointed forwards like a single structure (pic #3)
Habitat:
grasslands, dry eucalyptus forests
Notes:
This little moth was sitting on partially dry grass. The caterpillars of this moth are loopers and feed on eucalyptus leaves or callistemon (bottlebrush).
This moth is said to be common in teh south east quarter of Australia.
This moth is from the Family Geometridae - Subfamily Oenochrominae
