Description:
Large, spreading tree to height of 25m, gnarled pale grey bark with pink tinge, when bark peels these particular ones reveal a bright orange/salmon coloured bark, this new bark turns grey over coming months, as limbs break off a large wound is left to heal as a bump giving these magnificent trees their gnarly appearance. Clusters of white, softly bristled type flowers, goblet-shaped seed capsules, dark green leaves, lanceolate, red tips on young leaves.
Habitat:
Grows in sandy soils, exists on stony ridge country in eastern and central Queensland and NSW down the coastline and favours sandstone country.
Notes:
This stand is always eyecatching as visitors drive past along the highway.
