Description:

Eudistylia vancouveri is a marine worm that lives in a parchment-like tube with a single opening from which a crown of tentacles projects when the worm is submerged.

Habitat:

Spotted in a rocky beach at low tide.

Thanks Sukanya. It was crazy luck that I found them at all. I was balancing on small rocks taking pictures of barnacles and seaweed when I noticed a colony of them. At that point I was fighting balancing, sun glare, murky water and a still receding tide. Once they are exposed to air they go into there tube (pic 3). Just another fun day at the beach!

Silly me, I thought it was a painting of a mushroom. How dopey am I? LOL That is such a cool spotting, Brian. Until I saw the other two photos, I would never have suspected a worm. Amazing!
