Notes:

I found these in my vegie patch around an eggplant stem. They are only about 5mm across and the inside of the cup is silvery, almost like tin-foil (see shot 4). There is another fungi in this series - one on the right of shot 3 that looks like a cappuccino. I think the red-capped 'mushroom' in shots 4 & 5 might be one of the bird's nests that hasn't opened up yet.

EXCELLENT! I just spotted something VERY similar to this on Sunday but have been lax to post as I didn't know the ID. This gives me a great starting point. Great spotting!

They are fungi. It looks like Cyathus striatus, the fluted bird's nest. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyathus_striatus
