Wildlife Spotting

I have been trying to identify this leaf for sometime. My landlady picks the young leaves for her cooking. It has a beautiful citrus perfume but is not Kaffir lime leaf or Lime as these are growing elsewhere in the garden. The stems have very long thorns. This is the only plant in the whole garden and as you can see, it's not looking great
