Field Notes
Description:
I came across this dark-colored snake during a hike and all I could see was its tail. It was partially inside the hollowed portion of a tree. I wanted to see if I could bring it out of the tree, but decided not too annoy the poor snake.
Habitat:
I was hiking through Minnewaska State Park in the Palisades region of New York.
Notes:
I know it must be near impossible, but I'd love to see if someone might have an idea as to what kind of snake this was. It had beautiful, dark-colored scales.
