I hope to. And yes, I received and replied to Yasser's email. Thanks for letting me know.
Are you planning a visit to the area in the future? BTW did you get an e-mail from Yasser, he has not had a response yet.
Thanks Malcolm. I'm planning to get the Princeton Field Guide to Birds of India: Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. It was just recently released. I flipped through it at my local bookstore; a very good book!
Thanks for this spotting Aneesh. I could identify my spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7163578
lovely spotting Aneesh
Yes, Malcolm, that's it! Well done. What book are you using?
From the description on Wikipedia ("It is most famous for the way it warbles". It did have a very distinctive and appealing call.) I think Grey hooded Warbler is correct.
Liam, my book shows Yellow-bellied Warbler has a white throat but Grey-hooded Warbler is close to this. Pekin Robin is not even listed in my Indian book.
Yeah, that was what caught me, but this was the best match I could find. Definitely not a Red-billed Leiothrix (Pekin Robin), which have gray bellies and a rufous crown.
Liam, Xiaoxuan seems to be right about the throat. But I am also not sure whether it is a Pekin Robin either. Can this be referred to an Indian expert?
Yellow-bellied warblers have a distinct white throat which this bird lacks...
