Description:

I am not sure if this is an Eastern or Western grey squirrel. Wikipedia says that the Western are very shy, which was not the case for this one. Can anyone confirm the id for me?

Habitat:

San Francisco Botanical Garden, CA.

Location doesn't count since they introduced Eastern to California and most of the Western are found in forests not in urban areas. The locations know for Westerns in the west are Washington and Southern California.
Thanks for telling me the difference Jellis! I have no idea of the multiple squirrel types in California. I am sure I will keep asking for advice later on as I post the ones I have seen in other places ;-)
Looks more like a Eastern. Westerns are steely gray and larger. Eastern changes colors per season.
