Description:

Eurasian Collared Doves a large, stocky dove, approximately 30–33 cm (12–13 in) with a wingspan of 45–55 cm (18–22 in). Plumage is a pale gray with a pinkish tinge to the head and breast. Bills are black. Eye irises are red. Their tails are white below and squared off rather than pointed. They have a partial black collar on the back of the neck.

Habitat:

This is an introduced species that is not uncommon in Florida and other areas of the US south.

I sympathize with you. Mourning doves are lovely natives (ours are just now returning this spring). We don't get many at our feeders, but fortunately we get very few non-natives, such as house sparrows, either.

Really common bird here in California Bay Area Coastside. They seem to have displaced the Mourning Doves, which used to be common here. I haven't seen one in my neighborhood now for several years. Attractive bird, but I wish we had our Mourning Doves back. They are also big pests at my feeders.
