Description:

Tiny. Found it walking along a table in a patio area surrounded by plants. I can't really tell mites apart, especially since my photo doesn't show much detain. I guessed Bastaustium based on where I found it and its behavior. BugGuide comment says members of this genus eat pollen rather than preying on other animals. This mite was not on any host when I found it, but it was in an area where everything was covered in pollen.

Habitat:

Emory University campus
