Field Notes

Description:

Large bees most often seen on flowers or hovering near their nest.

Habitat:

These bees nest in wood, preferring the underside of a horizontal log or board. The entrance to their nest is a nearly perfectly round hole.

Notes:

These bees were seen gathered around a group of daffodils. Multiple males were fighting with each other and pursuing females.
