Field Notes

Description:

Dark, but bright blue feathers on head and out layer of wings. The feathers darken to black along the body. The feet are three-toed and a very strong mustard yellow. Beak is black, probably 2-3 centimeters long.

Habitat:

Shallow, slow-moving bayou of Katy, Texas. Surface of water mostly covered in algae. Bird perched on tree branches resting in water.
