Rhea americana intermedia
-25.7886, -52.111
Field Notes
Description:
Rheas are quite common in SouthAmerica; in Uruguay we have natural reserves were they may be seen walking freely around. However, in many cases they are captive, as in this case in Iguazú, Brazil. This one was protecting its four eggs; the biggest existing bird eggs. Many times ñandú eggs can be found randomly in the countryside showing its existance and location.
