Keith is right, you have a Largus bug, not an assassin bug.
I think a much better candidate would be a Bordered Plant Bug. In Rhiginia the head is narrower and longer and the thorax shows more red. Largus Bug - Largus succinctus looks like the best bet. http://bugguide.net/node/view/3628/bgpage
