Field Notes

Description:

The tallest of these mushrooms was some 20 cm tall, about 10 cm in diameter. Growing in tight clusters.

Habitat:

Found in a meadow, valley of lake Geneva.

Notes:

Interesting thing about this mushroom is that is edible, but must not be consumed with any amount of alcohol - the substance called coprine, found in these mushrooms, interferes with the metabolisms of alcohols, provoking nauseas and other symptoms. It was noted also that this substance was also used in treatment of alcoholism.
