Little owl

Generally commonest owl in the region. Also the easiest to see as it is partly diurnal. Size and rounded appearance normally allow identification. At close range, large white spots can be seen on most parts of grey-brown plumage and the staring yellow eyes glare back at observer. Perches on fenceposts and dead branches, often bobbing head and body.
