Description:

Was surprised to see this Painted Lady in Swaziland... After being there a while, I realized they were quite common in the area.

Wingspan: males 40-45 mm females 45-50 mm

Habitat:

Mlawula Forest reserve After the first bridge over the Mlawula River in the Mbaluzi Gorge.

Yes, I also saw that in Wiki, Kate. That surprised me as I don't recall seeing it that often on my travels...
One of the most widespread species, apparently: "V. cardui is one of the most widespread of all butterflies, found on every continent except Antarctica and South America." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanessa_cardui)
