Description:

Hard, brownish, furrowed, stalkless cap, or irregular projections from spreading crust. white to yellowish pores. Large cap from 1-10 inches. wide, flat, with wavy margins, single to several, sometimes fused in long rows, often projecting from spreading, crustlike mass.

Habitat:

Year around. At base of stumps and dead trunks, or on roots of conifers; also on some hardwoods and timbers.
