Cane toad

This toad was eating the insects around the fruit plate. It looks like that he had been working out too :)

To protect itself against predators, it has poison glands and the tadpoles are highly toxic to most animals if ingested. Even the jelly around the eggs is toxic.

They are native to Central and South America but have been introduced in Australia and various islands in Oceania. They were introduced to eradicate pests from sugar cane, but are now considered as a pest themselves because of their highly toxic skin which kill many animals.
