Description:
Douglas Squirrels have two colorings, one for winter and one for summer. In summer they appear gray or even greenish with a pale orange/yellow underbelly. In the winter, the gray gets browner and the underbelly grayer. Ear tufts also appear in the winter.
Habitat:
Coniferous forests ranging from the Sierra Nevadas in California to south of Alaska.
