Field Notes

Description:

Small, white and black bird with bead-like black eyes set against white feathers. The top of the head looks like the black fathers have been back-combed. The tail is constantly "wagged" up and down. Small black bib on front of neck.

Habitat:

My office lawn...happily feeding with its mate. There are many small insects hiding in the grass; a tiny butterfly tried to photobomb the wagtail (extreme right, lower corner) ...may be it will end up as lunch.

Notes:

Called Khonjona in Bangla. Often mentioned in Bangla poems.
This bird is alert and wary.
