Field Notes

Description:

Small mushrooms with caps that were deep orange in the centre and became paler towards the margin. The stipes were paler near the cap and a graduated orange towards the base. Gills were thick and waxy with a pink or flesh colour to them.

Habitat:

Damp eucalyptus forest. These mushrooms were growing in damp leaf litter under eucalyptus trees.

I understand that mushrooms are only the fruiting body and eating them is like eating apples (the right ones of course) - the tree is still growing and okay.
