I'm conflicted as to the accuracy of this spotting. On one hand there was a marking at the Morton Arboretum that listed this plant as "Adelaide Hoodless Rose" (Rosa), but AnnaWhipkey makes a great point that it looks more like "Lenten Rose, Hellebore." However, as it is seems appropriate, "A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet." Comments?

I am positive that it is not a rose (Rosa sp.). Maybe there is a problem with the label, either the rose died and the label is still there or it wasn't clear what plant the label was for. A rose wouldn't be blooming this time of year in Illinois and the plant may be inconspicuous.
