Description:

This Abyssinian ground hornbill lives at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, Maryland. They reside on the African savannah north of the equator and south of the Sahara Desert. They are large black birds, about the size of wild turkeys, with bold facial markings and long eyelashes. They prey on snakes and small mammals. They also eat some fruits and seeds. They rarely fly and prefer to walk but will fly if forced to.
