Description:

Southern white rhinoceros. These southern white rhinos live at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, Maryland. Their natural home is in Africa on the grassy plains where they graze on grasses. They walk with their enormous heads and squared lips lowered to the ground. Both the black and white rhino are gray in color. However, the white rhino has a square lip and the black rhino has a pointed upper lip. The white rhino has two horns. They have sharp hearing and a keen sense of smell. They weigh between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds. Standing 5 to 6 feet tall at the shoulder. White rhinos are endangered.
