Field Notes

Habitat:

This Luzon Grass Dart was spotted, in the rice mill backyard, resting on unidentified foliage.

Notes:

Hesperiidae; Hesperiinae; Taractrocera luzonensis luzonensis Staudinger,1889. This Luzon Grass dart was seen resting in the so-called "Jet Plane" position, a posture which is adopted by most members of the Subfamily Hesperiinae. As far as I know, this posture has never been observed in any other butterfly group. T. l. luzonensis is endemic to the Philippines.
