Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized mainly grey dove, some 30 cm in length. Wing coverts are a bit darker grey than the rest of the body. Plein grey head and broad red eye ring are diagnostic.

Habitat:

Abundant species, locally common in Sub-Saharan Africa. Observed several times close to settlements and urban centers in semi arid savanna, in the area around Jigjiga, capital of Somali Region in Ethiopia.
