Field Notes

Description:

The cocotilla is native from Australia and apparently does not live near water, however, this one was spotted by students from Saint George´s School flying freely next to the beach. It didn´t seem to be a pet - some people have them as a pet here - because it could fly well, as it did. Because of its grey color it seems to be a male as females seem to be a bit more yellowis; although as they grow older all of them tend to become more yellow by changing gradually from grey into it.

Yes, Gus, just like yours =); thank you for the nice comments the rest
Thank you Isabella! Karen, nice to hear that it may be adapting to its new habitat if it had happen to be a pet bird before.
Where my parents live in the south of england they occasionally get large flocked of mixed parrots that presumably escaped from captivity. They seem to do perfectly well in the wild & have survived the harsh winters there.
We wondered that too...No way to tell though, it was there and it also flew around and away...
perhaps someone's pet that escaped
